On the resurrection
The bodily resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth is a historical claim, not merely a spiritual one. It is examinable by the same tools applied to any event in antiquity — the quality of the sources, the proximity of the witnesses, the coherence of the accounts, the behaviour of those who claimed to have seen him alive. VacantTomb is built on the conviction that this examination, done honestly, leads somewhere.
On the sources
The Greek New Testament, the Hebrew Old Testament, the Quran, the Hadith — these are primary documents. They deserve to be read directly, in their original languages where possible, without an intermediary deciding what they mean before you encounter them. Every reader in this app is built on that conviction.
On tradition
Anyone who affirms the full deity of Christ, his bodily resurrection, salvation by grace through faith, and the authority of the Old and New Testaments belongs here — regardless of which tradition shaped their understanding of those convictions. VacantTomb has no denominational home and no intention of acquiring one.
